Abstract

Stunting remains a critical public health issue in Sutopati Village, Magelang, notably affecting children from economically stable families. This paradox indicates underlying problems in parenting practices and nutritional management rather than mere food availability. This study aims to analyze the relationship between parental knowledge of child-rearing and its practical implementation in preventing stunting. Employing a quantitative survey method, primary data were collected from 33 parents of stunted children through structured questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results reveal a highly significant relationship between parental knowledge of child-rearing and its practical implementation in mitigating stunting (p < 0.05). Conversely, the parents' formal education level showed no significant correlation with the implementation of parenting practices (p > 0.05). These findings underscore that a formal academic background alone is insufficient to guarantee optimal child health outcomes. Therefore, targeted interventions focusing on practical parenting skills, particularly through the optimization of pre-marital guidance curricula, are essential to effectively and sustainably combat stunting in the community.
